Putty will have a different surface texture than plastic, so its good to prime the model before you paint, so you won't notice the different textures here and there. Most tube type putties also shrink so you may need to repeat the process on deeper gaps. Milliput is an excellent cold setting and non-shrinking epoxy putty which is used to repair different materials including metals, masonry, glass, wood and ceramic. Wet sanding provides a much smoother finish than "dry" sanding which can leave scratches. You apply the tube putty to the gap, let dry and then wet sand smooth. sticks and the general instructions for preparation and usage are the same. Each grade is presented in similar packs containing 2 x 567gm. We produce five grades: Standard (Yellow/Grey), Terracotta, Silver Grey, Black and Superfine White. Ideal for military miniatures, ship model parts, dolls, dollhouse accessories, plastic models and thousands of other items. Milliput is the trade name for our epoxy putty. Use for scratch building, sculpting, repairing, gap filling, pattern making and customizing. I prefer their old Green putty, but the Tamiya is better than either. Milliput is the 2 part, easy-to-use epoxy putty that molds like clay and cures to the hardness of porcelain. I am less happy with Squadron White putty. I did buy a tube of Tamiya White Putty and they seem to have improved that. Personally, I like Tamiya Basic Putty (the grey stuff). Tube type model putties are good for parts molded in halves with minimal gaps but just a bit of irregular fit. This stuff is less useful for joints on, say, the fuselage of a model airplane. You can even carve detail into it if you are filling in gaps on something with surface texture like a big Godzilla kit. You mix them, apply them, smooth them out and let dry. By wetting the Milliput with a finely woven moist cloth a very smooth finish can be easily obtained. When first mixed, the putty is pliable and easily shaped. These are epoxy putties that are similar to clay. TWO PART EPOXY PUTTY (113.4gm) Milliput is a versatile manipulative two part epoxy putty which when mixed together sets rock hard. Some brands are just crap too, like Testors putty.įor very large and/or irregular gaps you may want something like Aves Apoxie Sculpt or Milliput. Not all putties are created equal and different types do best for different applications. But it is a good way to remove joint lines and seams when you get the parts to fit as close as possible. Putty won't hide bad construction or really bad fit (that you could probably fix by trimming, sanding and adjusting before gluing the parts.
